Proud Dad

To just update all of you my daughter got really good A level results. She had already decided to change course to psychology. So given she had better grades than her original course she went into adjustment. The course she wanted though rejected her she had enough points but just not the exact grades so suddenly there was a panic.

She called a university she had originally applied for a sports course. They first said no places. She called back to discuss a combined honours option which was last chance saloon for this year. However the lady there was so helpful and after some tense waiting as she checked with the course admissions people she was given a place. It is reasonably local and she is only timetabled for three days a week so she’ll live at home and commute, possibly by train as that might be easiest. She really liked the campus and feel of the place when we visited before so in the end all great. Seeing her beaming face at first the grades then the place being confirmed on the phone, then on the UCAS site was so terrific.

In other proud Dad moments my sub has submitted his first two academic papers for review – it is all Physics to me!

Congratulations to the entire Furtheron Clan! Your daughter seems to have a good bit of resilience – and THAT will sustain her through life! As for your son? That’s a big damn deal! He’s on his way!

Thank you – and Son-of-Furtheron is further encouraged by the fact that despite submitting in the middle of the snooze zone that is the summer in the academic community both papers have already gone for review showing that they clearly have garnered some immediate interest 🙂
