Blogging break

I think I’m taking a blogging break – I’ve nothing much to say.  Having just reviewed the posts so far this year frankly they are most me just whimbling on about something and nothing as my mother would have said.  Thank you for those that have read and commented, given the largely inane content in recent posts I applaud you for your fortitude in reading this nonsense.

I commented on someone else’s blog today that I wonder whether I have anything left of value to say.  Most people here in sobercyberverse are relative newcomers compared to yours truly and maybe I’m just not tuned in anymore that I feel I don’t offer much in term of meaningful posts.  I’ve been up and down a lot over the last year – I’m back good with AA, if a little bit more distance as I still get to grips with different groups.  Having had the same home group for over 9 years it has been disruptive when I’ve had to drop out of that group due to my course commitments.

So anyway – if I go quiet for a while it is simply that I don’t think I’ve anything of value to say and some of what I’ve put up lately is frankly drivel…. sorry.   Now no doubt having said all that I’ll think of something of value to say tomorrow and be on here typing away again.

I’ll still be reading and commenting on your blogs – which by the way have really meaningful content

Hm, I definitely don’t see your posts as drivel. If you need a break, it’s good to know why ahead of time. It’s courteous so we don’t worry, though I expect we all go through waves and spells of blog block. I hope your case is short and that you find fulfillment in meetings and life.

  2. Totally agree with BBB on this one, Graham. I don’t see drivel from you. And I comment because I see something valid worth commenting on! But I know the feeling of having to pull back. I did the same. To reset, get a new perspective, take stock and inventory, etc. Most of us go through that. I am sure I will do the same again at some point. Hope you enjoy and find that space to come back fully bound and ready to go 🙂

Ditto on what Paul and Kristen said! Your thoughts and words are always valued – and we need people like you here! With that said, I understand needing a break. All the best to you!

  4. Well, I, for one, enjoy your posts tremendously. But I’ve taken time-outs before from blogging and they really are cathartic. Do what you must. I’ll keep you in my reader.

i enjoy your posts – you write thoughtfully, with compassion and deep consideration, and i genuinely appreciate your point of view. At the same time? i know this feeling well.

When i started my blog, it was to help organize my thoughts about the aspect of my life that was most vexing – the feelings i have regarding my extended family. Everything else on the blog was practice writing, really… Just farting around. But it was fun, and i enjoyed the community of fellow bloggers i’ve met out here.

Now? i’m not compelled to write. i’ve come to somewhat comfortable terms with the extended family situation, and i’m somewhat balanced in my life… i don’t think anything i have to say is of much interest, other than perhaps as entertainment.

Take the break as needed… No point in forcing it. If you do decide to keep writing, you’re in my reader, and i’ll be back to catch up!

  6. I always am glad to see you posting and hearing about what you and your family are up to. But I also understand getting blog-stuck. I’ve been blogging for 8 years, and I get lots of times when I think I’m dull as hell. Well, I likely am, but sometimes I feel more up to being a dullard gabbing away and other times, not so much. I’ll be glad to see your positing when and if you feel up to it.

I always come here to read your posts, I enjoy them for what they are – your very honest, open, candid thoughts, views, observations and feelings. That’s not dull! What more could we ask for?! I understand that blog break sentiment too, though. Only been blogging for a couple of years but every so often get that feeling. Ironically – as you say too – soon after thinking to myself that I need to give it a rest, I get a compulsion to write and share something! I think that’s the good thing about it all: it’s fluid, it changes, it’s there if/when we want it, there’s no pressure or expectation, it’s not like we’re under contract. Having said that, if you ‘disappeared’ without expressing this first we would be concerned that something had happened to you, so this way we are prepared for you to go quiet without worry. Whatever you feel now, I look forward to reading your next one.

I love reading your “drivel”. You’re honest and refreshing and I’ve loved hearing about your kids and how you and wife of Furtherton are dealing with your impending empty nest. But since that was my blog on which you left that comment, I, of all people, get it.

So take some time and recharge…but not too much!

    Sherry

I always like reading your posts, though I may not always comment.

    Hope you’re ok?

Your posts are acres of rubbish and it’ll be great to have a break from them.
